It has been a joy to connect with many of you at recent events. This month, the Church Property Resource Hub team has traveled widely, leading workshops, engaging with rostered ministers and gathering with colleagues across the church. Below are a few highlights from our July travels.

A Story from the Spectrum of Success

Leaving the building to come home again — All Saints Lutheran, Port Orange

All Saints Lutheran Church in Port Orange, Fla., discovered new possibilities for its future by worshiping beyond its walls and discerning where God was already at work in the community. Through a partnership with Able Academics, the congregation transformed underused space into a vibrant hub for learning, inclusion and shared ministry. Today, the relationship is renewing congregational life and expanding the community’s understanding of belonging.

“Fundamentals of Space Sharing: A Course” 

Sharing your church buildings with community groups is a great way to expand your mission in the community, strengthen relationships, and support property maintenance. This online course will guide you through the space sharing discernment process, the logistics of sharing space and best practices for managing your relationships with mission partners. There is also a printable version of the course, if that is a better fit for your community.

Come learn about “The Joy of Generosity,” a new, free resource from the ELCA Stewardship office. This four-week stewardship series is easy to implement and fully customizable. Imagine together how it can be adapted for your congregation to help fuel God’s mission being lived out through your community of faith.

Church Property Resource Hub Webinar: “Land Back as Property Stewardship Ethic”

Honoring our commitment as a church through the social policy resolution “Supporting ELCA Land Back Efforts and Indigenous Ministries,” this webinar is focused on land return. Indigenous leaders will share about the Land Back movement and repudiation of the Doctrine of Discovery. Participants will also hear from congregation and synods taking part in land return and reconciliation efforts.
