World Food Day: Celebrating 50 Years of ELCA World Hunger | Oct. 15, 2024
Recorded Oct. 15, 2024, this ELCA World Hunger event looks back on 50 years of ministry and reflects on how God calls all of us into the bold pursuit of ending hunger in our world. You will hear firsthand stories of impact from ELCA World Hunger partners — including Educación Popular en Salud (EPES), a community health organization in Chile founded over 40 years ago, and more recent starts such as Tapestry Farms, a Midwestern urban farm system in the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois. You’ll also get a chance to hear special music from singer-songwriter and lifelong Lutheran Peter Mayer; a World Food Day message from Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton; reflections and conversation from the Rev. Amy Current, bishop of the Southeastern Iowa Synod, and Imran Siddiqui, vice president of the ELCA; and more! Join us and be part of the story of our next 50 years together — boldly and faithfully pursuing God’s promise of a just world where all are fed. Learn more at ELCA.org/WH50. ________________________________________________________________________________ The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States, with nearly 3.5 million members in more than 9,100 worshiping communities across the 50 states and in the Caribbean region.
